Art Inspired By Nature: Watercolor Expressions

Where nature’s beauty and mystery come alive through watercolor

Step into a world where nature’s beauty and mystery come alive through watercolor. My artwork captures the essence of atmospheric landscapes, where light dances on horizons and shadows tell untold stories. In the deep woods, mystical mushrooms evoke a sense of wonder, while farm-to-table still life celebrates the quiet poetry of everyday sustenance.

Animals and figures in motion add energy and vitality, while elegant structures—buildings and bridges—stand as timeless testaments to humanity’s harmony with nature.

Each piece is influenced by the tools of nature itself: the golden glow of sunlight, the interplay of forms and shadows, and the ever-shifting perspectives that remind us of our connection to the world around us.

My Art Bio

Art has always been my life with mom a talented artist was my first teacher of sketching, drawing and color. In college, I was an art major but it led me into the world of design where I practice interior design for healthcare and healing environments for  40+ years. It is here that I found the connection between nature, beauty and healing. Early in my design career, I painted a signature piece for each of my clients where I left a piece in their waiting rooms. In a children’s cancer center, I painted a beloved “Pigeon Park” for the waiting room which led to my first solo exhibition in San Juan, PR in the mid “80’s”.

Now retired from active interior architecture practice I have returned to my first love of watercolor painting, seeking out nature to capture the beauty of the world. Always a student of art, I continue to engage with art programs at the Smithsonian, and the art league of Alexandria where I continue to study watercolors under diverse art techniques and process. I also participate in local exhibits.

Art has been the thread woven through the fabric of my life, thanks to my mom, a talented artist who was my first teacher in sketching, drawing, and exploring the vibrant world of color. In college, I majored in art, which eventually opened the door to a lifelong career in interior design, specializing in healing environments for over 40 years. It was through this work that I discovered the profound connection between nature, beauty, and healing—a synergy that became central to my designs.

Early in my career, I found joy in creating personalized art for my clients, leaving a lasting impression in their spaces. One of my most cherished works was "Pigeon Park," a vibrant large scale watercolor painting for the waiting room of a children’s cancer center, which led to my first solo exhibition in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the mid-1980s.
