Dear Friends,
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news — not just one, but two new caregiver resources will be launching on June 17th! New books to support dementia.
These books were born out of deep conversations with my dear friend Ruth Shea, a social worker specializing in dementia caregiving. We share a passion for addressing the dementia caregiving crisis, and together, through countless late-night reflections and lived caregiving experiences, we’ve created tools we believe will truly help.
My hope is that these new books will become trusted companions on your caregiving journey.
📘 The Caregiver’s Compass: 100+ Tips & Strategies for a Smoother Dementia Journey
This amazing little pocket guide — priced under $10 — is easy to tuck into your bag and take with you anywhere. It’s intuitive and simple to use, organized into 10 essential topics including mealtime, bathing, communication challenges, safety, and routines.
This is your go-to guide for those moments when you’re overwhelmed, uncertain, or just need a quick dose of clarity. Inside, you’ll find over 100 practical, bite-sized tips grounded in compassion, experience, and common sense.
Whether you’re a family caregiver or working in a care facility, this guide is designed to support you — the real human behind the care. It’s the book I wish I’d had when I was deep in the trenches — short, honest, and full of “aha” moments.
📕 This Is Me: A Guide to Person-Centered Care
Caregiving isn’t just about tasks — it’s about knowing the person you're caring for.
This Is Me is a beautiful, interactive tool that helps capture a person's story, preferences, and personality beyond their diagnosis. It's designed to be filled out with or for someone living with dementia, helping ensure their voice is heard and their dignity honored.
It’s also a wonderful support tool for family and friends stepping in to help. There’s space to note favorite shows (maybe they love Downton Abbey but hate the news), preferred music, travel memories, or how they like their oatmeal — small details that make a big difference for visiting caregivers or respite helpers.
These two new books were created to complement my original guide, Taming the Chaos of Dementia: A Caregiver’s Guide to Interventions That Make a Difference — one offering real-time caregiver strategies, the other helping you truly see the person behind the dementia.
📅 Two new books to support dementia. Mark your calendars for June 17, and stay tuned for special offers, downloadable resources, and launch events!
You’re not alone on this journey — and I’m walking beside you.
