About Barbara J. Huelat

Author, Speaker & Designer

Barbara Huelat is a published author of two books on healing environments, one translated into Chinese and distributed in Asia, an award-winning designer, healthcare strategist, researcher, hospice volunteer, and a dementia caregiver for those she loved dearly. She has climbed Mt Saini, endured an air hijacking, and even survived caregiving for her soul mate despite a heart attack. Doctors said it would kill her, and many insisted she "put him a home," she resisted and then discovered "design interventions" can have positive endings for caregivers and those with dementia.

Always fascinated with the beauty of science and the science of design, she believes human-centric design experiences can mitigate human misery. When she isn't writing or engaged in the design, she is out lecturing at conferences, universities, organizations, and cruise ships worldwide.
